Careers at GPS Legal & Consulting
Explore a career at a law firm in Thailand
At GPS, we firmly believe our success lies in attracting, developing and retaining a strong, experienced team where everyone is a participant with a vital role to play in supporting the delivery of outstanding services to our clients.
We provide a supportive and stimulating environment for highly talented, engaging and impassioned individuals who are aligned with our values and will help us achieve our vision of becoming the leading small law firm in Thailand. We offer competitive compensation and benefits packages based on merit and experience with a commitment to rewarding hard work and excellent client service.
We look for and hire future partners, not employees. We are always interested in hearing from attorneys who understand that a successful legal practice is more than just the intimate knowledge of law but also includes an entrepreneurial drive coupled with the constant cultivation of client relationships through empathy (of the situation), understanding (of their objectives) and the meticulous delivery of service.
Our size is your advantage – by joining GPS as an experienced lawyer, you will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of our legal practice. Senior staff are also given a voice in firm strategy. We will count on your capacity to collaborate, strategize, and manage matters; your ability to develop our business, refine your legal skills, and educate new lawyers; and your faculty to recognise market opportunities in pursuit of the Firm’s growth.
If you believe as we do, then we would love to hear from you.
First Year Associates / Junior Associates
We believe that the best lawyers are frequently the most “complete” professionals and so we take a holistic approach to professional development for those just starting their legal careers. Our goal is to help young lawyers develop essential skills and broad-based knowledge instead of narrow niches of legal expertise—especially at the outset of their careers.
We set no timetable or hierarchy for associate responsibility—except to increase the challenge steadily to enable each attorney to expand his or her skillset. The type of work assigned to associates is limited only by their desire and capabilities.
First Year Associates are fresh graduates, having successfully attained their LL.B. (or J.D.) while Junior Associates must also have attained their law licence and have between 1 and 3 years’ prior experience in a law firm or corporate legal department. Our lawyers are required to be fluent in English and have excellent analytical, communication, diplomacy, legal research, and writing skills. Because you will have direct, frequent contact with clients from the outset, you must be able to communicate legal matters clearly and concisely to foreign clients and management.
If this is a challenge that excites you, contact us, we may have just the position for you!
Pursuing a degree in law is not easy, and we applaud anyone who has the skill and determination to undertake this demanding intellectual journey. Even after graduation, you are likely to encounter a new challenge: facing stiff competition for a job at a good law firm.
Law school provides you the foundation with which to understand and analyze legal concepts and applications, but there is no substitute for practical experience. Becoming a legal intern not only exposes you to real-world legal situations, but also gives you the advantage of jump starting your legal career while you are still in university.
We believe that cultivating excellent legal professionals should start as early as possible. If you are a dedicated law student who is out-going and has a good command of English with good grades, community involvement, and relevant extracurricular activities, GPS Legal & Consulting may be the right place for you.
Because we are a small firm, interns do much more than make coffee or file documents. They are immediately challenged with real tasks for real clients, gaining invaluable practical experience as they assist our legal teams.
If you want to learn through hands-on experience, contact us.
A successful law firm not only needs an experienced and innovative legal team, but must also have reliable and efficient support staff. From secretaries to accountants, our admin team is integral to effectively meeting our clients’ needs. We offer more than just a paycheck – our support staff are respected and rewarded as the firm grows and succeeds.
Previous experience with a law firm or an in-house legal department is highly desirable, but suitable candidates from other sectors will also be considered. We expect our support staff to work well with others, be willing to take initiative and be independently motivated, and to have a good command of English.
